Wilson Mason will celebrate its 100th anniversary in June with events in London and Manchester, giving guests a look back at our practice’s illustrious history and a glimpse into our future.
Our history goes back to 1926 when pioneering Scottish architect James Mollinson Wilson opened his first office in London, later being joined in partnership by Harold Clayforth Mason.
The practice became internationally recognised in its formative years by shaping new landscapes with bold and ambitious designs, completing projects around the world, including many in the Middle East.
In more recent decades, we have become known for our work in the UK, designing innovative and sustainable buildings in a number of specialist sectors. These projects have included cancer research facilities, nuclear research laboratories, and transformative education and healthcare buildings.
We have created an exhibition of some our most famous historical and modern projects, which will be on display at our two anniversary events. The exhibition will feature archive material, including architectural drawings, photographs and other artefacts.
Eleanor Wood, partner architect at our North office, said: “Wilson Mason has evolved massively over the years, but one thing that hasn’t changed in all the time the practice has been going is the focus on technical competence – we are still that practice today, committed to excellence in architecture and placemaking.
“Our 100th anniversary is a great opportunity to reflect on this but also to showcase some of our recent projects, such as pioneering research laboratories, education spaces and healthcare facilities that are having an enormous impact on people and communities.”
Darren Crossley, partner architect in our London office, added: “We’re looking forward immensely to bringing together our clients, professional contacts, and current and former colleagues to celebrate this important milestone.
“We’ll be displaying some of our rather extensive archive too which will give people a glimpse into our rich and varied history and the people and projects that make us what we are today.”
Wilson Mason’s London and North teams will be joined by clients, current and former staff, and contacts from the across the built environment community at its anniversary events.
Both events take place in June with our London event at The Building Centre and our north event at Manchester Museum. Contact us if you would like more information about our upcoming events.
