About the project
The new ‘Lucas Furniture’ store in Aylesbury was commissioned to replace an outdated facility that no longer met modern retail demands. Our design significantly expanded the available commercial area, creating an adaptable internal layout that supports efficient reconfiguration of furniture displays. An optimised parking layout was introduced to accommodate increased footfall and improve customer experience.
At the ‘Doorway to value’ store in Chorley, we were tasked with designing a substantial extension to increase the commercial floorspace. Situated within the Green Belt, the project required sensitive architectural responses and careful navigation of associated planning policy. Close collaboration with the local authority enabled us to address planning sensitivities effectively, resulting in a compliant design that integrates seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.
The ‘Russel Dean’ store in Mytholmroyd, required a comprehensive resilience‑led design approach following extensive flood damage caused by Storm Desmond. With the building located within a floodplain, concerns over structural integrity and future viability were key. We remodelled the internal layout by relocating commercial areas to the first and second floors, incorporating a flood resilient ground floor car park and ancillary spaces. To avoid increasing flood risk to neighbouring properties, the ground floor was designed to allow water to pass through unobstructed.
