About the project
The development of the Samlesbury Enterprise Zone has led to significant investment in this manufacturing and aerospace hub in Lancashire, supporting new businesses, nurturing innovation and R&D and strengthening the region’s supply chain.
This project focused initially on masterplanning for infrastructure development, together with ecological mitigation. The site required significant infrastructure upgrades, including a new spine road, utility provision (water, drainage, electricity), and access points from the A59 and A677 roads.
A masterplan was developed, outlining land use principles, site layout, and infrastructure requirements, guiding development within the Enterprise Zone.
Comprehensive ecological surveys were conducted, leading to on-site and off-site mitigation measures, including habitat creation and compensation for grassland and ground nesting bird habitats.
The Enterprise Zone heralds an era of high quality commercial development on a grand scale that will attract global knowledge intensive businesses.
The architectural framework suggests an aesthetic which complements existing buildings on the site and limits maintenance needs. Further development followed consultations of the master plan leading to the development structure below.
