About the project

The purpose-built facility boasts an impressive range of accommodation including a laboratory, simulated hospital ward, home environments, alongside digital and IT facilities to support students in their practical learning, including the delivery of a new Health and Digital T Level qualification.

The design proposal was developed in collaboration with course leaders, through a detailed consultation process. The interior was designed, creating an immersive real-world experience for the students.

The building is equipped with an immersive digital environment, flexible IT and Esports suites, teaching laboratory, dental studio, simulated hospital ward and domestic (home) learning environments.

The site is located close to a main road and a public footpath. In response to these site constraints, the design strategy was to maximise the height of the building to reducing its footprint. This strategy leaves room for future development, a key consideration for the wider Bury College estate.
