About the project

A prime factor in the brief was for there to be a common feel to the two facilities, supporting both improved resident care and the principle of ‘sustainability for staffing’.

Smaller, household-style living arrangements promote a more intimate and familiar atmosphere for residents. Each home required space to accommodate 60 residents with dementia Friendly design principles, to create a calm and relaxing internal and external feel by utilising natural ventilation and daylight. Clear, uncluttered signage, contrasting colours and familiar landmarks were used in the design to help residents navigate the environment.

The spacious, high quality staff areas benefit from ergonomic design, promoting easy access to essential resources like medication storage, cleaning supplies, and resident rooms.
