About the project

Lying within 5.5 acres of gardens, the Grade II listed Chancellors Hotel at the University of Manchester underwent a £4m refurbishment.

The upgrade of the hotel, originally built in 1850 as a mansion for Sir Joseph Whitworth and late bequeathed to the university, involved renovations to its 68 standard bedrooms, four executive suites, and bridal suite with all of these areas receiving new furniture, bathrooms, fixtures and fittings.

Improvements were also carried out to all public areas including the hotel reception, meeting rooms, corridors, bar, lounges, and the conservatory. A new lift and plant room were also installed as part of the renovation.
