About the project

The brief focused on creating an efficient, forward-looking environment for the storage, distribution, and management of specialist equipment, tools, and components essential to high-performance manufacturing.

The facility was conceived as a major asset management hub designed to streamline logistics, improve operational flow, and adapt to technological change. A critical focus was on infrastructure that could support the integration of new technologies over time, ensuring the facility remained fit-for-purpose as industry requirements evolved.

We worked closely with technology providers to embed flexibility into the architectural framework. BIM and digital simulation tools were used extensively to plan production layouts, assess circulation routes, and anticipate operational bottlenecks. These insights informed the spatial configuration, allowing for lean logistics and efficient movement throughout the facility.

The design also prioritised modularity, with construction strategies and service layouts enabling reconfiguration, expansion, and future adaptation to new systems or processes.
