Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week

National - Apprenticeship - Week - Owen Harwood - Thomas Dickason - Wilson Mason - 1

Here at Wilson Mason we are celebrating National Apprenticeship Week with our two level 7 apprentices, Owen Harwood and Thomas Dickason.
Both apprentices are at a similar stage in their careers, progressing toward qualification through the apprenticeship route following their year‑out placements at Wilson Mason. Working in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University and London South Bank University, they are successfully balancing the demands of full‑time project work with their academic commitments, demonstrating strong dedication to their development as future architects.
Since joining Wilson Mason, Owen has steadily built practical skills that extend beyond academic study, contributing to projects through drawing production, stage reports, and internal and external visualisations that support client understanding. His apprenticeship allows him to complete his Master’s while applying theoretical knowledge directly within project work, strengthening his ability to communicate across multiple disciplines. Similarly, Tom joined the practice in 2023 as a year‑out employee and quickly showed strong commitment and a clear enthusiasm for architectural design before beginning his Level 7 Apprenticeship in 2025. He has since contributed to a wide range of projects, producing drawings, reports, CGI visuals, and detailed technical information. As a Master’s apprentice, he is developing academically and professionally, applying skills from both university and practice, and demonstrating consistent versatility and growth.

Tom notes “As a Level 7 apprentice at Wilson Mason, my journey towards becoming a fully qualified Architect has grown enormously. As a valued member of the design team, I gain hands-on, real-world experience across a wide range of projects and sectors. This route is shaping me into a well-rounded architectural professional, combining practical experience with academic study in a way that goes beyond what full-time university alone can provide.”
With Owen commenting “My time as an apprentice at Wilson Mason is where my technical and real-world understanding has grown, through collaborating on live projects with real responsibility in ways no book or lecture alone could offer.”

Well done to both Owen and Tom—please keep up the excellent work.
At Wilson Mason, we have a long-standing commitment to supporting individuals pursuing architectural and technologist qualifications, from school engagement and work experience placements to year‑out positions. The Level 7 apprenticeships represent the next stage in this journey, and we are extremely proud of our wider team for their continued dedication to developing the next generation of architectural talent.
